Why these resources

Minimums come from the apps' official requirements; our estimates are marked.

  1. 01Website monitoring1 vCPU · 1 GB · 10 GB · estimate

Uptime Kuma has no official memory requirements. In the library it needs 1 vCPU, 1 GB, 10 GB, the same as Gitea.

  2. 02Grafana dashboards1 vCPU · 2 GB · 20 GB

Grafana's minimum is 512 MB of memory and 1 core; 2 GB here leaves room for a metrics source alongside. For production Grafana advises 2+ cores and 2–4 GB, which are the next steps.

  3. 03VS Code in the browser2 vCPU · 2 GB · 30 GB

code-server requires at least 1 GB of memory and 2 cores. On top of that, room for repositories and dependencies.

  4. 04Git and CI for a team2 vCPU · 4 GB · 50 GB

For a small team Jenkins advises 4+ GB of memory and 50 GB of disk. Gitea is light; its docs give no exact figures.

  5. 05GitLab CE at the minimum4 vCPU · 8 GB · 60 GB

GitLab runs on 8 GB of memory in constrained setups, and the application needs 40 GB of disk. That's below the baseline recommendation of 8 vCPU and 16 GB.

  6. 06GitLab CE as recommended8 vCPU · 16 GB · 100 GB

GitLab's baseline recommendation for a single-server install is 8 vCPU and 16 GB of memory.

Git & CI/CD FAQ

No answer here? Message @ExpressHost_SupportBot.

Gitea or GitLab?

Gitea is a lightweight Git service with repositories, issues and pull requests: its minimum in the library is 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, 10 GB NVMe, which is $2.85 a month. GitLab is a large suite with built-in CI/CD and needs at least 8 GB of memory.

How many resources does GitLab need?

In constrained setups GitLab runs on 8 GB of memory: the “GitLab CE at the minimum” plan (4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 60 GB NVMe). The baseline recommendation for a single server is 8 vCPU and 16 GB: the “GitLab CE as recommended” plan for $23.14 a month.

Where should builds run?

For a small team Jenkins advises 4+ GB of memory and 50 GB of disk: the “Git and CI for a team” plan (2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 50 GB NVMe, $8.35 a month). If your builds are heavy, move them to a separate server and keep Git here.

How do I give colleagues access?

The bot has shared server access: add a colleague by link, @username or Telegram ID with the “Viewer” or “Administrator” role. Access to repositories and builds is set up in Gitea, GitLab and Jenkins themselves.

How do I monitor servers and websites?

Uptime Kuma checks that websites are up and notifies you of outages; Grafana and Netdata show metrics. The “Website monitoring” plan is enough for monitoring.
