Which Rocky Linux version should I choose?
For a new server, Rocky Linux 9: per the project's schedule it is supported until May 31, 2032, and the 8 branch until May 31, 2029. The project supports only the latest minor release of each branch, and 8.4 is not one of them, so take it only for software tested on exactly that version.
How is Rocky Linux different from AlmaLinux and CentOS?
Rocky Linux and AlmaLinux are free systems compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux: packages install with dnf and configs live in the RHEL paths. CentOS Stream is the branch the next RHEL release is built from, and classic CentOS Linux is no longer released. The library scripts target Ubuntu, Debian and AlmaLinux.
How do I connect over SSH?
With ssh root@IP: the address and root password arrive in the bot after payment. You can add an SSH key when ordering or under “Settings → SSH keys”, and the VNC console opens right from the bot.
Can I reinstall the system?
Yes, the OS reinstalls with one button in the server panel in the bot. Save the files you need before reinstalling.
