Why a server needs another address

A separate IP keeps projects apart: each gets its own reputation, DNS and access rules.

  • Several websites on one server

    Each project gets its own address and certificate. Records are set up in the bot under “Settings → DNS / Domains”.

  • Proxy and VPN exits

    A separate outbound address for each service or customer: its own limits, its own reputation and its own access rules.

  • Mail and newsletters

    A mail server on a separate address with its own rDNS record. The address's reputation across 18 blacklists is shown on the IP card.

  • Separating services

    Panel, API and public website on different addresses. It is easier to firewall what is not needed, and the internal address stays out of DNS.

How to connect

No sign-up: the address is ordered in the Telegram bot, in the same place as the server.

  1. Choose a VPS in the bot

    A new one in “Order a server”, a running one in “My servers”. The address works with any ExpressHost VPS.

  2. Order the address

    When ordering a server, at the “Add-ons” step; for a running one, “Settings → Network → IP addresses → Add IP”. Subnets via the request below.

  3. Check the card

    The new address appears in the server's IP list with its own card: geolocation, rDNS and reputation checks.

Can I add an address to a server that is already running?
Yes. Open the server in “My servers” and go to “Settings → Network → IP addresses → Add IP”. For a new server, the extra IP is chosen at the “Add-ons” step of the order.
How much does an extra IP cost?
Price per address per month: RIPE: $0.50, AFRINIC: $0.30 (only in Poland and the Netherlands), RKN BYPASS: $1.50 (only in Germany). Changing an address costs $0.60, to a fresh block $0.90, to RKN BYPASS $1.50. Up to 10 addresses per server. Promotion: the first 40 servers in Germany get the first month of RKN BYPASS free.
Can I change the rDNS (PTR)?
Yes, yourself, in the server panel: “Settings → DNS / Domains → Change rDNS”. By default, rDNS points to an auto domain like name.expresshost.cloud. For mail, first create an A record for your own name, then change the rDNS.
Can I change the address?
Yes, with the “Change IP” button on the address card. The main IP cannot be removed, since the server needs it, but it can be changed.
Do I need my own domain?
Not necessarily. Every server gets a domain like name.expresshost.cloud right away. Your own domain is connected in “Settings → DNS / Domains → Link your domain”.
Why can't the server reach Yandex and VK?
By default, outbound access to a number of Russian services is turned off: the server does not connect to Yandex, VK, Sber, banks or Gosuslugi. For business use, APIs and payment acquiring, access is enabled in the “Network” section; speed in this mode is limited to 20 Mbps.
What is the geolocation of the address?
The country and city of the address are shown on its card in the bot, along with the network AS197574 ExpressHost Ltd. Addresses are issued from the blocks of the country where the server is. AFRINIC addresses are sometimes listed in Africa by geolocation databases.
