Alpine Linux VPS FAQ
No answer here? Message @ExpressHost_SupportBot.
Which Alpine Linux version is available?
Alpine Linux 3.15. Its support ended on November 1, 2023, and it no longer gets security updates. It suits software tested on exactly this version; for an internet-facing service, choose Debian or Ubuntu.
How is Alpine different from Debian and Ubuntu?
Alpine is built on musl libc and BusyBox, packages install with apk, and services are run by OpenRC instead of systemd. The system takes less space, but programs built for glibc may not run without a rebuild. The library scripts target Ubuntu, Debian and AlmaLinux.
How do I connect over SSH?
With ssh root@IP: the address and root password arrive in the bot after payment. You can add an SSH key when ordering or under “Settings → SSH keys”, and the VNC console opens right from the bot.
Can I reinstall the system?
Yes, the OS reinstalls with one button in the server panel in the bot. Save the files you need before reinstalling.
