What it is

  • Monitoring
  • Metrics
  • Alerts
  • Real time

Netdata is real-time server monitoring with per-second metrics. Right after installation it automatically discovers CPU, memory, disks, network, containers and services such as Nginx, MySQL and PostgreSQL, and builds charts for them.

It's the fastest way to understand what's happening on your VPS: why load is rising, which process ate the memory, whether bandwidth is sufficient. Alerts and ML-based anomaly detection are built in.

The agent is distributed under GPL-3.0 and the web interface is free. Connecting to Netdata Cloud is optional.

  • Per-second metrics with zero configuration
  • Auto-discovery of services and containers
  • Ready-made alerts and notifications
  • ML-based anomaly detection
  • Export to Prometheus and Grafana

Recommended plan

For Netdata: at least 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM and 10 GB NVMe.

Minimum to run
1 vCPU · 1 GB RAM · 10 GB disk
Systems
Ubuntu 22.04 · Ubuntu 24.04 · Debian 11 · Debian 12 · AlmaLinux 9

How to install

Three steps in the bot or one command over SSH; installation takes about 2 minutes.

  1. 01

Choose a plan in the bot

Open @ExpressHost_bot and pay for a VPS. The server will be ready in about 60 seconds.

  2. 02

    Add Netdata

At the “Add-ons” step pick the script from the library, or run it later: Server settings → Scripts.

  3. 03

    Open http://SERVER-IP:19999

The bot will send the server address and login details to the chat.

Manually over SSH

Connect to the server as root and run the command. Supported systems: Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 11, Debian 12, AlmaLinux 9.

Install command
curl https://get.netdata.cloud/kickstart.sh > /tmp/netdata-kickstart.sh && sh /tmp/netdata-kickstart.sh --stable-channel

After installation

  1. 1.Open http://SERVER-IP:19999
  2. 2.Close port 19999 to other IPs or open the interface via an SSH tunnel: ssh -L 19999:localhost:19999 root@IP
  3. 3.Optionally connect the server to Netdata Cloud to see multiple servers in one window

Netdata FAQ

Didn’t find an answer? Message @ExpressHost_SupportBot.

Does Netdata put a heavy load on the server?

The agent is designed to run on any server and has a barely noticeable footprint. You can reduce history retention in the settings.

How do I update Netdata?

The installer enables automatic updates. You can disable them with the --no-updates flag during installation.

How is Netdata different from Grafana?

Netdata collects metrics itself and displays them right away. Grafana is visualization only and needs a data source, such as Netdata or Prometheus.

Netdata installs at checkout — in the bot.
