What it is

  • Palworld
  • Co-op
  • LinuxGSM
  • Steam

Your own Palworld server for friends or a community: the world doesn't depend on a host player, and you set XP rates, difficulty and player count yourself.

Installed by LinuxGSM (MIT) via SteamCMD. The game developers recommend at least 4 cores and 16 GB of memory for a server: it will start with 8 GB, but crashes more often due to lack of RAM.

Default port is 8211/UDP.

  • World online 24/7
  • Difficulty and XP settings in PalWorldSettings.ini
  • Updates via SteamCMD
  • Backups and auto-restart via LinuxGSM

Recommended plan

For Palworld: at least 8 vCPU, 16 GB RAM and 225 GB NVMe.

Minimum to run
4 vCPU · 8 GB RAM · 20 GB disk
Systems

Palworld FAQ

Didn’t find an answer? Message @ExpressHost_SupportBot.

How do I update the server?

su - pwserver -c './pwserver update' — LinuxGSM checks Steam for an update and restarts the server only if one is available.

Where are the files and settings?

In /home/pwserver: game files are in serverfiles, LinuxGSM settings in lgsm/config-lgsm/pwserver. ./pwserver details shows all ports and paths.

Why doesn't the server run as root?

LinuxGSM refuses to run game servers as root for security reasons, so the command creates a separate pwserver user.
