What it is

  • Photos
  • Video
  • Backup
  • Face recognition

Immich is a self-hosted Google Photos replacement. The mobile app automatically uploads photos and videos, and the web interface shows a timeline, albums and a map.

Built-in machine learning recognizes faces and finds photos by description ("dog on the beach"), all running locally without sharing photos with third parties.

Immich runs via Docker Compose: server, machine learning, PostgreSQL and Valkey. Recognition needs extra memory headroom.

  • Auto-upload of photos and videos from iOS and Android
  • Face recognition and smart search by description
  • Albums, sharing and partner sharing
  • Photo map and metadata
  • Multi-user support
