About the CPU

The Ryzen 9 7950X is AMD's 2022 processor on the Zen 4 architecture (Raphael), built on TSMC 5 nm. 16 cores, 32 threads, 64 MB of L3 and 16 MB of L2.

Its base clock is higher than the 9950X's: 4.5 GHz versus 4.3 GHz, with the same peak of up to 5.7 GHz per core. AVX-512 is here too.

The 9950X's Zen 5 is newer and faster per core in public benchmarks (see the comparison below). The 7950X is a proven option for the same tasks.

Keep in mind

  • A vCPU is a virtual core on a shared physical server, not a whole core.
  • Zen 4 is the previous generation: per core, the 9950X is faster in PassMark (comparison below).
